The association with Halloween is obvious but some might be wondering what this illustration has to do with Christmas. Well Krampus is a mythical demon that accompanied St. Nick in some European countries. Instead of getting coal bad children would get a visit from a frightening demon, complete with thrashing chains. This character is a probably a little goofier than the real Krampus.

I got the idea to try something new for Halloween this year from watching YouTube videos. I have not done much carving, but thought I would give it a shot anyways. I drew this a few months ago. For those of you that don't know I used to own a coffee shop and still post on a coffee blog I started. It was originally drawn for that blog. It started out as a little doodle on a piece of scratch paper from work. I drew most of this image using Corel Painter, after scanning the scratch paper image in. This is a single panel cartoon I drew about a viticulturist and the nocturnal manifestations of his anxiety. Deep down inside I see myself as the next Gary Larson. I think if you read this comic in that context it makes it even more pitiful. On the plus side it made me laugh and I learned what a viticulturist is.

This may be as serious as my illustrations get. I wanted to draw something more developed than many of my other drawings. I started thinking about how we take photographs for granted. I will take five or six pictures of the same thing to make sure I got the photograph I want, and probably erase half my pictures before I even get home. One little SD can fit thousands of high quality pictures.

This is an early screen print of my contraption logo. It was done on with an opaque silver ink on a reclaimed 150 speed ball mesh. This was one of my first prints with my table press. It is amazing how much simpler a simple press can make screen printing. I mounted the t-shirt fabric to a canvas board post printing and scanned the image. I drew this on a plane ride back from Las Vegas. It started out as a doodle on some lined notebook paper. The lady sitting next to me seemed to really like it, so I figured I would develop it further. This is the finished product.
